Remaster is the temporal-upscale preset. The engine job is RealBasicVSR-style video super-resolution: one pass that carries detail from frame to frame so texture holds steady instead of shimmering.
It is not a separate “Remaster+CUDA” product. CUDA is how Remaster runs.
What you need
- An NVIDIA GPU. Without NVIDIA, upscale and denoise can still use ncnn or CPU fallbacks. Remaster is unavailable.
- The optional GPU add-on pack (~2 GB of NVIDIA / PyTorch wheels) when you request it. The lean sidecar does not ship torch.
- VSR checkpoints, downloaded when you request them. They are not the same as “Download missing models” for the lighter presets.
- About 12 GB of VRAM. The UI warns below that. Cards under 12 GB often OOM on the recurrent graph. Export Ready (per-frame) can still run on that GPU.
Detail modes
- Natural — default.
- Crisp — sharper, still the same Remaster job.
Preflight
Before Start, expand the row. If Remaster is queued on a small card, the app tells you. That warning is advisory. It does not invent a cloud fallback.
For the pipeline write-up, see Inside Remaster. For cards and fallbacks, see hardware.
