FrameLathe

Compare

Video2X is a well-known free GUI around upscaling and interpolation stacks (Anime4K, Real-ESRGAN, Real-CUGAN, RIFE) on Vulkan. FrameLathe is a Windows installer with a named preset catalog, an overnight folder queue, and Review in the morning — a wipe, a difference view, and a comparison MP4 you can export to show someone. Footage is not uploaded.

The latest stable tag on 18 September 2026 was still 6.4.0, published 24 January 2025. Verify on the project’s own tags. The Qt6 GUI can queue tasks while a run is going. That is a job list. FrameLathe is drop a folder → Quick / Full / Best possible → Approve / Flag.

Both run on Vulkan. FrameLathe’s default upscale and interpolate path is ncnn/Vulkan — the same family Video2X wraps — so the API is not the difference. The difference is where the choosing happens. A FrameLathe run starts from a named preset, and Model Hub is a registry of stage slots: Upscale, Denoise, and Matting take your own weight, Colorize is fixed, and face restore and object removal are not offered. Video2X hands you every model, every run.

SeedVR2 in ComfyUI is a different workshop: a free one-step diffusion path that expects you to build node graphs. FrameLathe is the morning recap, not that graph. We do not publish a quality-score win against either.
